Two sides who will be hoping to claim back-to-back Bundesliga victories on Friday night, Borussia Dortmund will make the trip to Freiburg.
Freiburg
Starting with the hosts, after storming their way to a top-six finish last season, Freiburg gained plenty of plaudits from across Germany. Despite signing off the 2021/22 campaign with back-to-back defeats against Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen, Head Coach Christian Streich has seen his side come roaring back. Picking up some perfect momentum over the summer during their pre-season run, the Reds were also last seen putting in another eye-catching display. Getting the new campaign underway with a thumping 4-0 romp away at Augsburg, Freiburg will know that they must try and find some stability on home soil this time around. With their sights set on trying to mount another European charge this year, it should be highlighted that Streich s side won just one of their final four Bundesliga matchups at the Europa-Park Stadion last season. However, impressing over the past 12 months with their displays in the final third, Friday s hosts will be confident of asking BVB plenty of questions here.

All missing out on last weekend s 4-0 victory against Augsburg, the trio of Lucas Holer, Kevin Schade and Kimberly Ezekwem look set to miss out again here.
Freiburg are sweating over the fitness of 29-year-old Lukas Kubler on Friday night.
Borussia Dortmund
As for the visitors, while Borussia Dortmund might have once again picked up a silver medal finish last season, BVB have got a new era underway in rural Germany. Welcoming back former interim boss Edin Terzić on a permanent basis this summer, they did open the 2022/23 campaign with an impressive display last weekend. Despite knowing that they faced a real task when Bayer Leverkusen arrived at the Westfalenstadion, the one-time West Ham coach saw his side with a rugged 1-0 victory on home soil. Although Dortmund might have once again shown a string of defensive issues last season, it should be noted that BVB did largely shine with their performances on the road. Aside from a 3-1 loss against bitter rivals Bayern Munich on April 23rd, that was the only loss that Terzić s squad suffered from their final nine Bundesliga away fixtures. Likewise, landing a thumping 5-1 win when they last faced off against Freiburg back in January, Dortmund will be desperate for a similar display here.
