Chelsea linked with Henderson move

that Chelsea are ready to move for Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, with the midfielder yet to agree terms on a new deal at Anfield.

The former Sunderland man who, with Steven Gerrard suspended captained the Merseyside club and scored from the penalty spot in their 4-1 defeat at Arsenal on Saturday afternoon will have just twelve months remaining on his current deal come the summer.

Since signing for the Reds in the summer of 2011, Henderson has racked up one hundred and seventy-seven appearances in all competitions, with his goal at the weekend his twentieth for the club.

However, the England international’s future may lie away from Anfield with current Premier League leaders Chelsea monitoring his situation closely.

Godfather II was better – Monchi defends Sevilla sequel

Mochi does not fear the pitfalls of a lukewarm Hollywood revisiting ahead of his second tenure as sporting director at Sevilla.

The five-time Europa League winners announced Monchi s return on Sunday, with the former goalkeeper returning to a post he left in 2017 to join Roma.

However, he stood down in the aftermath of the Serie A side s Champions League last-16 defeat to Porto – a loss that also saw head coach Eusebio Di Francesco sacked.

Monchi was linked to a reunion with ex-Sevilla boss Unai Emery at Arsenal and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain were also reported suitors, but the pull of a return to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, where he masterminded a golden era, proved too strong.

There are many people outside of Sevilla who have told me that I a…

´I´m okay and feeling fine´ – Ajax star Blind provides update after health scare

Ajax defender Daley Blind allayed concerns over his health, insisting he is okay and feeling fine following a scare.

Blind is said to have collapsed before being substituted during Tuesday s 1-0 friendly win against Bundesliga opponents Hertha Berlin.

Former Manchester United utility Blind was fitted with a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator – a device that monitors and regulates his heart rhythm – after being diagnosed with heart muscle inflammation following a Champions League game with Valencia last December.

The 30-year-old Netherlands international provided an update via social media on Wednesday, writing: Many thanks for all the kind messages I ve received.

I can say that I m okay and feeling fine.

Sancho hails Sterling´s mentoring influence with England

Raheem Sterling is acting as an inspiration to Jadon Sancho and England s next generation of stars.

Manchester City forward Sterling continued his scintillating recent form with a hat-trick for Gareth Southgate s side against the Czech Republic on Friday, also winning a penalty that was converted by captain Harry Kane in a 5-0 Euro 2020 qualification rout.

Sancho was handed a full competitive debut and responded by laying on Sterling s 24th-minute breakthrough goal amid an eye-catching display.

The teenager, who turns 19 when England face Montenegro on Monday, has been a revelation in the Bundesliga this season for Borussia Dortmund.

Despite turning his back on a professional deal with City in 2017, Sancho and Sterling remain close.

Bournemouth 4 Huddersfield Town 0: Hat-trick hero Wilson stars for 10-man Cherries

Callum Wilson netted a superb hat-trick to help 10-man Bournemouth move clear of the Premier League relegation zone with a convincing 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

Without a league goal since January prior to Saturday s clash, Wilson scored twice in the space of five first-half minutes to put Eddie Howe s side in control at the Vitality Stadium.

Both goals proved controversial, though – referee Lee Probert failing to spot a clear foul in the build-up to Wilson s first, while the striker appeared to be just offside for his second.

Simon Francis dismissal in first-half stoppage time handed Huddersfield the impetus, but David Wagner s side could not find a way past Bournemouth s stubborn rearguard.

Matters were then made worse for the visitors when H…

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus: I´ve never seen anything like Seferovic´s miss in my life

Benfica s Jorge Jesus says in his 30 years as a coach he has never seen anything like Haris Seferovic s glaring late miss in Tuesday s 0-0 Champions League draw at Barcelona.

The Portuguese outfit could have moved above Barcelona in Group E ahead of the final matchday with victory but Seferovic put wide a golden opportunity on the break having got past goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Darwin Nunez broke clear in a two-on-one situation in a last-gasp counter, squaring to Seferovic who dinked past Ter Stegen before poking wide from less than 12 yards with Eric Garcia scrambling to cover an empty net.

At the end, there wasn t even a goalkeeper in goal for our final chance, Jorge Jesus told Eleven Sports.

I ve been a coach for 30 years and I ve never seen …

Baines wary of Fellaini influence

Everton defender Leighton Baines has highlighted club team-mate Marouane Fellaini as a major threat to England when they face Belgium.

All eyes are set to be on Chelsea-bound Eden Hazard, Premier League winner Vincent Kompany and Arsenal s Thomas Vermaelen as the Belgians line up against the Three Lions on Saturday, but Baines insisted the midfielder will be a tall order for the likes of Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard to cope with.

People just tend to notice Felli for his hair but there is so much more to him, the England left-back told The Daily Mail.

He is a lovely lad and such a good professional. He gives you everything that he has got and his work ethic is second to none.

He is versatile and does whatever you ask him. He is a great asset when w…

Southampton close on top two as Che Adams scores twice in win over Preston

Che Adams notched a brace to give Southampton a 3-0 victory over Preston, a third home win in seven days and a clear view of the Sky Bet Championship automatic promotion places.

Striker Adams claimed a classy first-half double – which took him past 100 league goals – before Scotland team-mate Stuart Armstrong crashed in a third.

After three defeats in four matches in February, Saints thought they would be consigned to the play-offs but three wins in a row, along with Ipswich, Leeds and Leicester’s stumbles, have them four points outside the top two with a game in hand on all but Leicester.

Saints were forced into a pre-match alteration as Gavin Bazunu hobbled out of the warm-ups, with Alex McCarthy brought in for his first league start since the final day o…

Aston Villa v Blackpool: Goal-shy hosts eye boost

Paul Lambert will be hoping misfiring Aston Villa can rediscover their touch in front of goal against Blackpool in the FA Cup.

Lambert s men head into the third-round clash with their scoring record under increasing scrutiny given they have managed a meagre 11 in 20 Premier League outings.

But the visit of a Blackpool team who sit bottom of the Championship having shipped 41 in 24 league games could well provide the perfect remedy for Villa.

Lambert may choose to recall Joe Cole to his starting XI after the former England man came back from a hamstring injury as an 83rd-minute substitute during Thursday s goalless draw with Crystal Palace.

Nathan Baker and Ashley Westwood (both knee) remain sidelined along with Libor Kozak (leg), while Fabian Delph se…
